In this brief, but informative video, Coach Doyle introduces the concept of reactive training as a part of a speed development program. He uses both pre-determined patterns and reactive drills in his program. The reactive drills introduce competition into the training program which will ultimately increase the intensity at which most athletes will train. You can see from the video that his athletes are giving a high level of effort and are competing with each other. The video is not meant to break down the technical aspects of open vs closed-loop feedback situations. The purpose is to briefly introduce the concept and give the viewer an overview of how they use this concept at Iowa. It’s a very engaging video and Coach Doyle uses his straightforward approach to teach us a valuable lesson.
